As we enter the fifth month of the COVID-19 event, I hope everyone is doing well and you have been able to enjoy some of your summer with your face mask in hand and adhering to the social distancing requirements. This episode, I had the wonderful opportunity to spend some time with Tony D’Onofrio, the CEO of the consultancy firm TD Insights. Tony is consistently listed as a Top 100 Global Retail Influencer for his work in retail, security, and emerging technologies and he publishes regularly on multiple platforms including Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn. His futurist views have been shared on stages in the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
Previously, Tony was Chief Customer Officer (CCO) at Tyco Retail Solutions (now Sensormatic), part of Johnson Controls. At Sensormatic, he managed global customer relationships, marketing, source tagging, and transitioning key security solutions into “as a service” models. His career has included executive roles in both security and information technologies companies. Tony is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University (BA) and Cleveland State University (MBA) in USA.

Byron is a veteran Asset Protection professional with a thirty-year career working for various retailers, including Eckerd Drugs, Office Depot, Circuit City and 7-Eleven. His experience has specialized in directing regional and corporate asset protection/loss prevention, distribution/logistics, risk management, safety and corporate security. Byron holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Sam Houston State University. Byron has been an active member of many organizations including the LPRC where he serves as a board member, RILA where he is involved with the RILA Asset Protection Conference Steering Committee and ISCPO. He has also held board member positions with The Houston Crime Stoppers and The Texas Retailers Association. He is recognized as a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) by the International Association of Interviewers and as a Loss Prevention Certified (LPC) by the Loss Prevention Foundation.

Kevin Gramer serves as the Vice President, Americas at Thruvision Incorporated located in Ashburn, Virginia. Kevin has worked with government and commercial organization for several years to advance safe distance security people screening for many markets including homeland security, loss prevention, aviation security and data center security applications. Prior to joining Thruvision he was Vice President for commercial sales at Digital Barriers. Kevin has over 20 years’ experience working with these organizations to introduce and integrate new technologies in the area of surveillance, evidence preservation and distribution.

Tom Meehan, CFI is a leading loss prevention expert in all things cybersecurity and information technology. He is the chief strategy officer and chief information security officer at CONTROLTEK, the retail technology editor at Loss Prevention Magazine and the co-host of the Loss Prevention Research Council podcast CrimeScience. His industry influence is also present through his roles as Sr. Technology Advisor, board member and Innovation Team Chair with the Loss Prevention Research Council. Prior to joining CONTROLTEK Tom was director of technology and investigations with Bloomingdale’s, where he was responsible for physical security, internal investigations, asset protection systems and data analytics. Prior to his 13-year tenure at Bloomingdale’s, he worked for Home Depot in loss prevention, and has had various technology, loss prevention, and operational roles at several other companies.

What a great opportunity to sit down and have a wonderful chat with Henry Bonner and Mark Russo of Riskpulse.
Riskpulse is a supply chain risk analytics company that helps its clients and their partners increase the predictability and stability of their financial and physical operations globally. Many of the largest food shippers, consumer packaged goods manufacturers, automakers, and retailers trust the Riskpulse Score (RpS) and the Riskpulse suite of cloud-based software applications to standardize their quantification of risk and guide their operational planning. Headquartered in Austin, TX, Riskpulse is rapidly becoming the standard way for members of the supply chain to get the signals they need to optimize for risk.
Mark Russo:
Mark is the SVP of Weather Operations at Riskpulse based in Chicago. He ensures weather forecast accuracy, product timeliness, and customer-focused impact-oriented communication for supply chains, business operations, and commodity trading/hedging. He also is an American Meteorological Society Certified Consulting Meteorologist.
After graduating from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology, He has spent the past 21 years applying global weather and climate to supply chains, agriculture, and energy. Prior to joining Riskpulse in 2013, Russo worked for Chesapeake Energy and Citigroup/Smith Barney where he provided accurate and timely weather forecasts .
Throughout his professional career, Mark has been active in the American Meteorological Society. Outside of work, Mark is a huge sports fan, especially baseball, and resides in the western suburbs of Chicago with his wife and three children.
Henry Bonner:
Henry has over 25 years’ experience in the risk management technology space. Originally in the FinTech sector focused on the emerging field of risk management in capital markets in the 1990's. He transferred these skills and experience to the energy commodity sector as the energy markets deregulated and was a founding team member of the leading technology company in the physical commodity risk management space.
The exposure to the business of commodity supply chains led to the development of risk management solutions oriented to physical movements. More recently, Henry became involved in the Agribusiness commodity technology sector as CEO of one of the largest software companies in the sector, with solutions for managing risk in supply chains, particularly for the Consumer-Packaged Goods and Food & Beverage industries.
As the Chief Product Officer of Riskpulse, Henry leans on his deep risk management technology experience across physical and financial markets, to guide Riskpulse as the leading innovative solution for supply chain predictive and prescriptive analytics and risk measurement.

I had a great time with this episode chatting with Ryan Yost of Avery Dennison. Ryan is vice president/general manager for the Printer Solutions Division (PSD) for Avery Dennison Corporation. He was appointed to this position in April 2017, after serving as director of Commercial, Avery Dennison RBIS since October 2015.
In his role, Ryan is responsible for worldwide leadership of and strategy for the Printer Solutions Division, focused on building partnerships and solutions within the Food, Apparel and Fulfillment industries. As the general manager of PSD, Ryan is also responsible for the core business functions for the division, including operations, marketing, finance, human resources, communications, legal, and information technology.
Ryan joined Avery Dennison in 2001. Since then, he has held various roles in Label and Graphic Materials in Operations and Supply Chain and within RBIS in both Operations and Commercial leadership. Before joining Avery Dennison, Ryan held business positions in management consultancy with Ernst & Young. He received his MBA from Cleveland State University in 2003.
Avery Dennison is a global materials science and manufacturing company specializing in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of labeling and functional materials. The company’s products, which are used in nearly every major industry, include pressure-sensitive materials for labels and graphic applications; tapes and other bonding solutions for industrial, medical and retail applications; tags, labels and embellishments for apparel; and radio-frequency identification (RFID) solutions serving retail apparel and other markets.
