• Drive southbound on Elm Street to access I-35E North

• Using the right lane, merge onto I-35E North

• Keep right at the fork to stay on I-35E North, following signs for Interstate 35E N/Denton

• Use the left lane to take exit 440 C to merge onto I-635 W toward DFW Airport

• Keep left to stay on I-635 W

• Take Exit 33 for Belt Line Road

• Turn right onto Ranch Trail

• Turn left onto Hackberry Road

• The 7-Eleven Store Support Center is the first building on your left. Parking is located off Hackberry Road. All parking spots, visitor and unmarked, are available for guests.

 

From DFW Airport (approx. 15 minutes)

• When exiting the terminal, follow signs for the North Exit

• Continue northbound on International Parkway

• Take the I-635 E Exit • Continue on I-635 for 2.5 miles

• Take Exit 33 for Belt Line Road

• Turn left onto Belt Line Road

• After 0.2 miles, take a right onto Hackberry Road

• After the stoplight at Cypress Water Boulevard, the 7-Eleven Store Support Center will be on your right.

• Parking is located on the Hackberry Road side of the building – all parking spots, visitor and unmarked, are available for guests.

 

From Dallas Love Field Airport (approx. 30 minutes)

• When exiting Love Field Airport, take a right onto Mockingbird Lane (west bound)

• Take a right onto N. Stemmons Freeway

• Use the left lane to take the ramp onto I-35E N

• Use the left lane to exit 440C and merge onto I-635 W

• Keep left to stay on the I-635W

• Take Exit 33 for Belt Line Road

Byron Smith – Chairman

Byron is a veteran asset protection professional with over twenty-eight year career working for various retailers, including Eckerd Drugs, Office Depot, Circuit City and 7-Eleven. His experience has specialized in directing regional and corporate asset protection/loss prevention, distribution/logistics, risk management, safety and corporate security. Byron holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Sam Houston State University. Byron has been an active member of many organizations including the LPRC where he serves as a board member, RILA where he is involved with the RILA Asset Protection Conference Steering Committee Loss and ISCPO. He has also held board member positions with The Houston Crime Stoppers and The Texas Retailers Association. He is recognized as a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) by the International Association of Interviewers and as a Loss Prevention Certified (LPC) by the Loss Prevention Foundation. He and his wife make McKinney, Texas their home.

Paul Kurtz
Co-Founder and CEO of Trustar

Paul Kurtz is an internationally recognized expert on cybersecurity and the co-founder and CEO of TruSTAR Technology. Paul began working on cybersecurity at the White House in the late 1990s. He served in senior positions relating to critical infrastructure and counterterrorism on the White House's National Security and Homeland Security Councils under Presidents Clinton and Bush.

After leaving government, Paul has held numerous private sector cybersecurity positions including founding the Cyber Security Industry Alliance (Acquired by Tech America), Executive Director of SAFECode, Managing Partner of Good Harbor Consulting in Abu Dhabi, and CISO of CyberPoint International.

Paul’s work in intelligence analysis, counterterrorism, critical infrastructure protection, and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction influenced his approach to cybersecurity. Specifically, the fields highlighted the need to build an exchange platform which addresses barriers to fusing cyber and physical intelligence in realtime while addressing bureaucratic, legal, and market risk concerns.

Rod is currently the Executive Director for D & L Protective Services. Prior to D & L he was the Managing Director for Pinkerton Consulting and Investigations. He has served in executive loss prevention and security positions with companies such as Blockbuster Entertainment and Loomis Fargo. He served seven years in the United States Navy and also worked as an adult probation officer for the State of Texas. Rod has a bachelor’s degree in criminal science and has completed graduate work in criminal psychology. He has published articles in several professional periodicals. Additionally, he has written a book entitled A Manager’s Guide to Workplace Violence. His specialties include internal theft, investigations, active shooter, workplace violence and program development. Rod has been a guest speaker on subjects such as security for houses of worship, internal theft, armed robbery, executive protection, workplace violence and other topics. He is a graduate of the Dallas FBI Citizens Academy. Rod serves on the advisory board to the University Of North Texas School Of Criminal Justice.

Gene Maddox III

Gene Maddox III is American Airlines Sr. Manager for International Security and Compliance. He’s an airline professional with over 20 years’ of knowledge and experience in the aviation industry. He has held a number of key positions within American Airlines, Inc. ranging from Sales to Operations and within the last 15 years he’s held positions of oversight with a special emphasis on Regulatory compliance, Cargo Security compliance, and Corporate Security compliance working directly with TSA, FAA, DOT and OSHA.

He has served as Chair for Airlines for America (A4A) Cargo Security Working Group and also a member of the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) Cargo Security Working group and IATA’s Smart Security Working Group.

His areas of responsibility include management and oversight of American Airlines, Inc. security and compliance for all airports AA serves in Europe, Asia, Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean. This would include development and implementation of Security Management System (SeMS) and maintenance of a risk based security program while working with Department Homeland Security, Customs Border Patrol, Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, Transportation Security Administration, Department for Transport and other agencies.

Terry L. Boling – President

Terry Boling serves as the President of Watchpoint. Terry received his education at The University of Tennessee and immediately began his career in the insurance industry in 1997. He held positions in both sales and field underwriting, prior to transitioning into the investigative industry in 2000. Throughout his career he has specialized in SIU and field investigations with extensive experience in high level special investigations, undercover investigations, surveillance, fraud reporting and compliance, background and financial investigations, internet/social media data mining investigations, and jury selection intelligence.

Terry brings an expertise in managing investigative services and personnel, training investigative teams for both field and desktop investigations, and a dedication to communication and building strong partnerships within the industry.

As a certified trainer, Terry provides educational classes for licensing requirement credits for both legal and insurance professionals across various investigative techniques, fraud identification, and ethics.

MJ Giorgi - VP of Development - Watchpoint

Born in Poland, MJ wrote his first line of code at age six and built computer systems before legally driving a car. In his near two-decade career, MJ successfully leveraged technology and data analytics to propel business objectives for Loss Adjustment, Quality Control and Revenue Generation for companies in the United States and the EU. MJ holds a Master’s Degree in Finance and is fluent in English, Polish, Structured Query Language, VBA and some C#. MJ and his wife Stephanie live in sunny Florida and have a 17-month-old son and their second is due in October.

Wes Bank – Vice Chairman

Wes Bank, LPC is currently the Director of Loss Prevention for DHL eCommerce, overseeing risk management, government regulatory, audit, investigations, and physical security. A Loss Prevention practitioner since 1990, Wes previously held Loss Prevention management roles with Velocity Express, Office Depot, and Jewel-Osco. Wes has worked diligently to support various industry initiatives over the years. He served on the Loss Prevention Foundation’s certification committee during the early development of the Loss Prevention Qualified (LPQ) and Certified (LPC) programs. He furnished the basis for a case study on safety incentives published in Occupational Health & Safety, September 2008. He founded and chaired the ISCPO’s Carrier Security Audit Committee with the objective to improve “final-mile” carrier compliance. He has been a participating member of Merchant Risk Council, RILA, and InfraGard. Wes has a B.S. Degree in Economics from Northern Illinois University.

Corey Tinsman – Treasurer

Corey earned his B.S. degree in Administration of Justice from Southern Illinois University in 1991. In 1997 he earned his M.A. in Criminal Justice and Criminology from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has five years of experience as a police officer and 18 years’ experience in corporate security. His current role is the Americas Regional Security Manager at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas. His current duties focus on executive security, investigations, security system design, access control, security surveys, and guard force management. Corey also serves as an adjunct instructor at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

John Cannon

John Cannon is Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the GBI Major Theft Unit with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), which is responsible for cargo theft investigations in the state of Georgia. With over 40 years of Law Enforcement experience, SAC Cannon has worked in a variety of roles at the GBI including serving at the Democratic National Convention, the Olympic Games in Atlanta, the G-8 Summit at Sea Island. He was also a member of the GBI Special Response Team as well as the State of Georgia Special Weapons and Tactics Team. SAC Cannon has twice received the GBI Directors Award for investigative excellence during his career, along with the GBI Meritorious Service Award and the Medal of Valor from the International Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association. SAC Cannon graduated from Columbus State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He is a graduate of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Command College and the Professional Management Program at Columbus State University. He is a Senior Instructor at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, where he instructs on topics regarding drug investigations and cargo theft.

Liz D’Aloia

Liz D’Aloia is the founder of HR Virtuoso Company. Based in Texas, HR Virtuoso has two lines of business. The first is a mobile recruiting software system that helps companies optimize their employment application processes and increase their candidate pool. Additionally, HR Virtuoso offers HR and employment law consulting services, including: Complex project management such as restructurings, compensation plan design and implementation, and staffing models; FLSA compliance strategies; Positive employee relations training; Employee handbook development and training; Diversity, outreach, and other recruiting strategies to support affirmative action plans.

Prior to launching HR Virtuoso, Liz rose through the ranks of transportation, retail, and mortgage companies as a Senior Employment Attorney and VP of HR. She holds a BA from Hampshire College and a JD from Brooklyn Law School. She is admitted to practice in Texas, New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Kansas. Liz is a nationally recognized blogger, speaker, and HR practitioner.

Wayne Hoover

Wayne Hoover is currently the Senior Partner, Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates and he has personally conducted over a thousand interviews and interrogations on incidents ranging from arson to theft over the last 27 years. He was directly responsible for the supervision of the firm’s investigative division. He also helped create the Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) designation that holds interviewers to a higher standard of obtaining the truth. In this capacity he oversees all the divisions of CFIs, of which there are over 1800 CFIs around the world, as well as the members of the International Association of Interviewers.

Wayne has spoken numerous times as a Keynote Speaker at many conferences for both the private and public sectors. From the National Retail Federation Loss Prevention Conference annual meeting, to FLETC, ISCPO annual conference, and ACFE Conferences. In addition, he has presented lectures as a guest instructor at police academies, colleges, and professional associations and company meetings in the United States and Internationally. He is responsible for overseeing Wicklander-Zulawski instructors teaching over 500 presentations and seminars internationally in the public and private sector every year. Since 1982, Wicklander-Zulawski has trained over 200,000 individuals around the globe on the non-confrontational interview and interrogation techniques.
